Does anyone know of a good, user-friendly website giving details of charitable trusts in the UK?  I've just been given the unenviable task of recreating a database (our IT system ate the last one, the result of some 20 years' worth of donations!), and am having to wade through heaps of manuals and books.

Ideally I'm looking for a site which would give names of the big cheeses within each organisation, together with mailing address and tel no, and an indication of the field they work in.

Any input gratefully received!

The Charity Commission is probably the best place to start. They probably publish a directory of some sort. You could ring them and ask. There's probably a book in the local library as well.
Some books I found listed include:
Directory of Grant Making Trusts - Charities Aid Foundation.
The Charities Digest - Family Welfare Association.
The Grants Register - MacMillan Press.

A guide to the major trusts might be worth having a squint at as well.
