I did lose everything I had worked on, so I spent a couple of hours at home that night working on replacing the lost data and finishing it all up. Came in yesterday morning to discover that pretty much all that I had done was garbage. (guess that's what happens when you try to be productive with a fussy infant in the room and on your mind.) Anyway, I worked on it yesterday morning (slow day at work thankfully) and had a couple of folks "in the know" proof it, and we ended up with a great finished product. Then I had to work on the resume, which I had not had to do since a class in college some 11 years ago. With some help from Chris68 and from others at work, I was able to produce a resume that seemed very strong and should put me in the running. After a few more tears and heart attacks, I was able to get the application package in to HR just under the wire. Now comes the waiting to find out if they qualify me for the position, and then waiting for an interview.
The good news? The boss for the position I'm applying for stopped by my office yesterday and found out I was applying. She made some suggestions on content for the resume and KSAO's and all in all gave me a very positive feeling for my chances. I just wish this process wouldn't take as long as it will. 2-3 weeks for them to qualify folks, then another 1-2 weeks for the packages to be looked over by the hiring team and possibly to schedule interviews. But I want to go
now.
