I was looking at the many training videos that have been added.  I see that there is a drop down menu to pick.. say Excel Tutorials, which is great.  But I would like to suggest somewhere on the site listing the videos and their level.  I love the videos and finding them helpful.  If they could just  be categorized it would save me a few minutes and I would know which to watch and which topics I already know.   I would say my level is beyond novice, but not quite advanced.

It is a fabulous new section that I will utilize.   This would just be even more helpful to have.

Personally I don't like the way the video section is listed at all.  I think the graphics could be removed - not required - and the topics should be listed A-Z for easy reference.  I've created "how to" and help files before and there are much tighter, neater ways of doing this.

Graphics and screendumps should be included in the tutorials themselves but are not necessary for viewing on a  web page (these take up a lot of space when loading the site).  The title or topic should be enough for easy identification but in a more organised manner.

I agree Alice that the tutorials could also be better categorised according to level.

I do have something planned to that affect.  Not sure when we will publish it.

Thanks for your Feedback...

First to Gee4’s suggestion for an  alphabetical listing of Videos. Please check the Video section.  We have now added this functionality.

There are two ways of displaying this listing:

1-   By setting the default Video List Type as Thumbnails or Listing. This can be done in the Video Settings section (which is a Tab in the Video Section). This setting is user specific and determines the default setting for that particular user.

2-    Irrespective of this setting, we have now added an option in the Video section under the ‘Show’ drop down which says ‘ Alphabetically’. By selecting this option the user can select to Browse Videos either in the previous Thumbnail listing or a Text only Listing.

Please let  us know if this is what you meant and any other suggestions you may have.

As to Alice’s suggestion for adding a ‘level’ to each Video. The difficulty here is how to determine to which level a Video blongs.  One potential way of doing this would be through a user voting system. Where each user can (though the comments facility) add their views as to which level any Video belongs. Then we could take the average of all comments and categorise each Video based on averages.

As usual we really appreciate your feed back.

Yes!  That is the whole point of the community, for you to share and learn from your peers!  If you have any problems posting, let me know.

Sooooooooooo much better DD, Mek and Susan.  Easier all round to search and view the list of videos available.

Glad you liked it...

Please keep the bugs and suggestions coming...we (DD)  can only go so far using our own ideas etc...I am not promising that we can do everything, but will definitely do our best to do as much of it as we can. That’s the only way we can improve the site to the best of our abilities.

I'm fussy about these things not only as a user, but also because I managed websites in a previous life and know at first glance what looks good on the eye.

I agree that if we keep the suggestions coming, we can improve this site even more!  Smiley
