I have a co-worker that gets on my nerves. I can take A personalities, I can take female dogs (put nicely for this board) , I can take self centered personalities but I can't take self pity people. The world sucks, poor me. I just want to lash out! We have one person who can't admit their mistakes and then goes into a really mean pity party mode. I keep my mouth shut, but today I almost lost it. When she was, my fault, I am stupid, I will work on the project again (hey .. she did make a mistake) I took the high road and said a nice comment, when I wanted to say let me get my violin out and play for your pity party. Anyone have any personalities.. that just get on their nerves? How do you keep control!

The Island Admin - you know the one my boss is the ONLY person I will work for, I'm just so busy I can't help with any other department or project. Then you walk by their desk and they are planning a wedding or doing other non company work. They grate my nerves as I really try to be a team player, if someone asks me for help very rarely will I turn them down exceptions being the one who pushes their work on others! I just take it day by day, and learn avoidance tactics for the ones I really can't get along with.

I deal with the know it all Ms. choose what I want to do, not pitch in when something needs to be done. Take over and Try To Run the Show for exposure. Can't trust her. Grates on my nerves. Talks on the phone half the day to family and admits she does not have anything to do but plans meetings for others outside of our group. I support two SR VPs and have all I can handle and then some. She will not pitch in when needed, but will stick her nose in and take over when not. Drives me nuts. Disappears and people come to me looking for her. I just say, not my day to watch her. She gets away with it URGH!

Jennika, are you allowed 'personal' items around your desk? and do you have somewhere to put a poster? If you do, how about making a poster up saying something along the lines of " I am not a qualified psycho-analyst - I just work here"! Any time Whingeing Ninny comes around with her sob stories, make like you have only just put it up and show her your masterpiece (be like a broken record that plays over everything she moans about each and every time) ... she will eventually get the message and stop coming round to whinge to/at/near you! Just a thought! Jess

My pet peeves are the Blonde Barbies (don't have to be blonde, I just associate there actions with the stereotypical blondes from the jokes and such).... those who want to get by on their looks and getting others to do everything for them. The ones who will stand at the copier for 15 minutes bemoaning the fact that it's not working... why isn't it working... has anyone called anyone to fix it... can anyone help.... and someone (normally a male) will stop and fix it, and all that was required was removing one piece of jammed paper -- which the copier was telling her how to fix!!!! They often say "I don't know how to do that" or are asking someone if they can show her how to do something... when I well know that she's been shown a million times, by almost as many different folks... and sit there wishing that sometime someone would let her fail on her own instead of suceeding by the work of others. I do not help her, unless I KNOW that she doesn't know how to do something... if she tries the helpless act with me, i ask her if she's looked it up in the references and until she brings those to me I can't help her. All under the guise of helping her, since in order to get the next raise she'll have to pass a test that requires her to be able to look up the regulations. That way I don't get in trouble for not being a team player or a mentor... thereby keeping my a$$ out of the fire.

The Drama Llama.
EVERYTHING is a crisis! EVERYTHING is a disaster! EVERYTHING is a major production!
Our copier is a piece of junk. It's constantly jamming and carrying on. Everybody in the office knows this and we have a backup plan while we wait for the tech to come fix it on an almost weekly basis. Nobody likes the situation, but getting a new one is beyond our control (Our organization has a few thousand copiers so it's all controlled by central purchasing and nothing will change until the contract is up.) So, we all just deal with it.
Except Drama Llama. Every time the copier is down, Drama Llama howls. You can hear it down the hall. "The copier is DOWN! HOW am I supposed to get any WORK done? (Use the backup plan.) My DAY is RUINED! (No, it's not. There's a backup plan. Use it.) This is UNACCEPTABLE. (We know. But until the contract's up there's nothing we can do about it. Use the backup plan.) I can't WORK LIKE THIS." (Uh, the rest of us are managing.)
We're also treated to daily updates of the latest Facebook war going on with her circle of friends. "WELL, Susie posted something totally snotty on Janie's wall, and I said to myself, You know, someone should tell her off, so I said blah blah blah, and I KNOW that p***ed her off, because she hasn't responded, (uh, maybe she hasn't seen it. Or maybe she has but really doesn't care what you think.) but really who says blah blah blah to someone about blah blah blah..." (And this isn't some "kid". Drama Llama is in her early 60s!)
Fortunately, Drama Llama is in another department so I don't have to actually work with her.....

Oh dear. I'm reading these posts and laughing wryly as well as feeling a little bit cross on behalf of all of you. I think I have probably worked with all those types and we have a few in my company.
My bug-bear at the moment is an admin assistant who is taking a suspicious amount of sick leave - always on the days when she is required to do work for my side of the department or when Bossie is out of the office. She's in line for a promotion soon and will achieve it because she's a favourite with Bossie. Hmmm. That's all I will say.
