Well, I got my review on whether I'm going to be hired permanent. The good news is they haven't let me go (YET). Bad news is they're not ready to hire me perm because they have some issues with me saving some things in the wrong place. Well the only incident I can remember recently was that I put something in a temporary file because it didn't have a job number nailed down for it yet, then forgot to move it. So later when they were looking for it we had a hard time finding it. That's a big deal here.

I explained to my supervisor that I am very motivated to make this job work out because I like it here; I really like the people and enjoy the work most of the time.  She said I need to be more aggressive in getting the info. I need from people, etc. so I can do my job. That is true. However, it is sometimes difficult because everyone's busy (including me at times) and it's hard to nail a person down when I need the info!

Anyway, I'm working on it. Just feeling a little paranoid right now--you know, like I'm afraid I'm going to mess something up and off goes my head! But I'm also looking into other job opps "just in case." Besides, I really need better pay and benes sometime soon! (If only hubby could finally get the funding for his film project; then HE could hire me as a full time PA/music director!)

I did get a compliment on my review--didn't sound like much of a compliment to me, but Bossie assured me that it was: I show up every day, on time, and am responsive when something needs doing.  I said well gee, I kind of take that for granted. To me, it's like saying "Wow, this is a great computer--sure it's a Pentium 250 but everytime I push the "On" button, it comes on!"  But I guess not everyone has that kind of work ethic today. Makes you wonder!

Anyway, I'm working hard here and hopefully things will be looking up soon.

Here are some cool pics of Titan to cheer yourself up:

I'm sorry to hear about the work situation - you've just had one knock after another recently.  It certainly sounds like a strange review - I think I'd be quite angry if my boss said things like 'you turn up' - if there are things they are not happy with surely a manager should use a review to inspire you to overcome your problems, not completely dishearten you.

The job that's right for you has to be out there somewhere, and maybe it will be with hubby on his 'film project'...  I'm intrigued - you must let us know more!

Sorry to hear that, Oz. In retrospect I can say that all the reviews I've had that were more than 50% negative content were definite signs that I should get out and work elsewhere--but maybe you can still make this work. Best of luck.

Hey! How'd you know pictures of Titan would cheer me up?

Actually today went better even though it was mega-crazy. I got compliments and thank yous from a couple people, which reminds me that does happen, too, on an incidental basis. And quite often, in fact. Don't know how that positive feedback doesn't make a difference. Anyway, my supervisor isn't mean or anything. She just has a very driven personality, and since SHE has a very demanding boss, it makes her more demanding. But she tries to be fair. And she honestly does appreciate a reliable employee--so while reliability seems a rather dull quality, it helps.

RE: HUbby's film project. It's called Being In The Nik Of Time (aka "BITNOT")  It's a sci-fi story involving wormholes, time travel, and interesting aliens. He's gathering interest from actors, a director, a distributor, and perhaps most importantly, investors!  It's actually creating quite a buzz in Australia of all places (see www.aint-it-cool-news.com). It's just a lot of work getting everything going.

Hi there

The comment about reliability, turning up on time etc sounds just like something my boss would cite!  Seriously though, he does value those things very highly so if it were me I would take those comments as compliments.   Also, in our company, we have quite a few members of staff who don't take that aspect seriously at all, frequently turn up late but then leave on the dot of 5.30 and take sick days when they fancy going shopping!

Just my opinion but certainly from my boss I would be pleased with these comments as I know how highly he values these things and in turn I would take it as valuing me.  I can understand though why you would have liked to have received some comments on other areas too.

All the best,
Nicola.
