I hope you were able to get this straightened out - not only for your benefit, but for the benefit of your colleagues. The only time I have gone 'overboard' on food is when I've been asked to do so. Generally it's in the case of all-day meetings where the participants really need to remain in the room and on task; we'll provide a substantial assortment of food and beverage so that there are not as many excuses for them to leave. It would never occur to me to intrude on the logistical arrangements of another person's meeting - your colleague has got a lot of nerve!

Apparently something stuck. She did not butt into my large meeting this week, and I had just enough snack food in the room for the afternoon. Only had two brownies leftover at the end of the meeting:-)

Well done Peaches, whatever you did it worked. And two brownies left over, perfect with an afternoon cuppa... Let's hope she sees how well your meeting went and let's you get on with it in the future.

Why she took this upon herself I have no idea but reading this, she is an embarrassment. That would never have happened where I work, never.
Having dealt with some of these types, I would bet she took it upon herself to show off. A la: "Look at ME! I did all this extra stuff that Peaches didn't think of! I went above and beyond!" All the policies and meetings and clear communication and whatever else won't do a thing with this type of person until her boss decides to reign her in (and get the credit card away from her). You know the old song "Fun fun fun 'till her Daddy takes the T-bird away....."

Peaches - for some reason I missed your update, so I'm glad it "stuck" and the catering worked out as you planned. Forget the last paragraph of my other post.
I still stand by my theory of why she did what she did, however.

Katie,
Someone somewhere has to take the blame for allowing her to mess up. In my company this would never have happened as we have to order catering internally and have it approved and signed off.
Using a credit card for outside catering is against company policy so it would never have been sanctioned.
There must have been rules to follow in the first place.

We have a policy and a limit on what to spend per person. I adhered to the policy. I agree that she is showing off. This is her personality, and this is not the first time she has behaved in this manner to show others up. I must say, compliments were not paid to her after meeting, her boss and my boss thanked me.

WTG Peaches!!! You showed her how to ROCK IT! Hopefully the lesson will stick, and you can continue to cater your meetings the way you know how to, and she'll hopefully watch and learn a thing or two. Good going!
