Trying to find historical post
«
on:
March 04, 2012, 03:48:43 pm »
Can anyone help me find an old posting on the topic of gathering together information prior to asking for a payrise?
I think it was quite a long time ago but seem to remember there was excellent advice on examples of what to include when you want to ask for a salary increase.
Many thanks in advance.

Could this be the thread you are thinking of?

Thanks Atlanta - I'd forgotton about that article and yes, the points made certainly do help.
Marie - that also helps but it is not the one I was thinking of. Perhaps I was dreaming but I seem to remember someone, did think it was actually yourself or jackie but don't quote me on that!, that in a posting actually listed all the duties that you do that is part of your job description and others that aren't but that you could include to show the boss how much you really do.
Lots of help here on DD articles anyway so am sure I can pull something together. Not actually required for me but I am helping someone pull this together.

Also useful Marie - thanks, but not quite what I remember. It's probably me not remembering it correctly, sorry. It was more to do with when you are in a position rather than negotiating at interview stage. I seem to remember a list of duties that most of us do on a day to day basis and the way you could explain why you feel that a rise in salary was due.
I have been trawling through old postings - back to 2006 now, with no success. Never mind, what you have all posted really does help in getting me thinking.
By the way, it's really interesting looking back on posts from way back, some situations seem to come up time and time again over the years.

Probably not the one your thinking of, but here's hoping it helps.
