Simple question.    What do you enjoy most about your current job?  People?  A task?  The company?  Location?

It used to be handing out paychecks, but I don't do that any more.  I would say planning the picnics and off-site events.

What do you enjoy most about your current job?
I love the freedom to be able to do my job without being micro managed.

People
It varies.  My teams are great, but there is the odd one or two travellers who are a nightmare, asking for the same things over and over, messing up travel plans, losing paperwork and not communicating.

A Task
I enjoy organising travel and schedulling meetings.  The fact no one else does my job for my teams, allows me to have control over what I do.

The Company
Flexible working hours, holidays and salary

Location
I avoid rush hour traffic by starting early.  That said whilst it's only about 10 miles away, I can get into work in about 15 mins.

I love the purpose behind my work.  My work is in support of our military veterans, and that is what drives me and keeps me coming in, even on those days I don't wanna crawl out of bed.  The mission of my company is my favorite part of my job.

This is quite a challenging question because often one is asked what one enjoys the least.  I think Countrigal has hit the nail on the head for me - the purpose behind my work.  Setting up a charitable foundation that will benefit people for generations to come (hopefully) is a great undertaking.   That's what gets me out of bed each day.  Not forgetting, of course, my salary.   Wink

It's not one big thing but a number of small things

1.  Great team to work with.  Funny, smart, supportive, helpful....
2.  Great view of the city from my top floor window on sunny days
3.  Those assignments when I can use my creativity
4.  The fact that I've been here long enough to have some "institutional memory" and am considered a valuable resource because of it.
5. The energy of an academic environment
7.  Outstanding medical benefits (yes, I have to contribute a portion, but they're far and away better and more comprehensive than anything I could afford on my own) and generous vacation time (20 days plus Christmas week!)

I love everything about my job.  If I were to pick ONE thing, it would be the contact I have with people from all walks of life and then some.

5 years ago I would have made a list to fill this page.  Had a great boss, challenging work, great co workers and work environment.  Now, today, Getting paid.  The paycheck is what it is all about.  Funny how things change.

Peaches, I am with you... I have gone from a job I love to a job I wish I would call in sick every day.  A career to .. a paycheck.  Hopefully things will turn around some day.

I am trying to keep a positive outlook and remember the glass is half full, not half empty.  It does no one any good to wear a negative attitude, just makes me and everyone around me miserable.  I keep my mouth shut and keep dwelling on the positives, not the negatives of the situation.  We all know change is a constant, so I keep believing things will turn around again, sooner rather than later.:-)
