Ok in the US today is the 4th of July and a day off! I love a day off and picnics and fireworks, but Christmas, the smells, family, food, that is my favorite holiday. I was talking to my friend who said Easter is theirs. What is your favorite holiday?

every single day of my holiday entitlement!
but yes, Christmas probably is mine! But as long as I spend it with people I love, they're all good.

I have to admit that the 4th of July is an AWESOME holiday, and I spend way more than I should on fireworks to celebrate it. Love the time and fun with my kids. But my favorite holiday is Christmas... I love the reason for the season, and the opportunity to give to others. The smells, the traditions, the spirit in the air.... yes, that is my favorite.

Hmmm hard to say... I love different holidays for different reasons.
Christmas is definitely one of my very favorite holidays for so many reasons.
I also love Thanksgiving - it's just one of the best holidays in my opinion - enjoyment of good food and thankfulness for those around us - no pressure of presents, decorating, etc.
Halloween is fun for seeing the children in costumes and the candy.
Memorial Day/Fourth of July/Labor Day are all interchangeable holidays in my head (though of course I know they aren't and were established for different reasons). LIke most Americans, they are basically beginning, midpoint, end of summer markers.

4th of July is not it. :-) I love to decorated with flowers on Easter, celebrate Canadian and US Thanksgiving, one with hubbies family, one with mine. I think it is Thanksgiving. At work my favorite holiday is Christmas/New Years because we get the time in between off :-)

For me Christmas. The decorations, present choosing and giving, being with family, wrapping up for long walks, mince pies and mulled wines, roaring fires, Queen on TV, cheesy music - but generally I really like how people are nicer to one another and that 'Merry Christmas' feeling you don't get any other time of the year.
But I don't think here in the UK we do 'holidays' the way folks in the US do - we could learn from you guys :-) I really fancy Thanksgiving!
Worst are New Year's Eve and Guy Fawkes Night.

Hm, but there's different ways to have a favorite! Food - Christmas (butter cookies!) Music - Easter. I've sung in a choir all my life, and singing the Hallelujah Chorus on Easter is a highlight of my year. Decorations - Christmas, followed by Halloween. I'm in a neighborhood with some rather creative people! Family - The summer holidays. Gatherings are low key and fun without all the extra stress of Christmas and Thanksgiving with way-too-huge meals. Don't get me wrong - family is great and I love them dearly, but for me it's so much less angst when you don't have to worry about the heirloom china getting chipped and fitting everyone around a formal dining table.

For me its not a case of favourite holiday time but favourite type of holiday/who I spend it with and this next week is one of them, spending a week with my twin godchildren, their dog, my dog and their two guinea pigs - yes even all the pets are coming on holiday to the South West of England - I just can't wait.
