So... how many of you in the US realise that the homepage is completely different for our UK counterpoints here on DD?  And how many of you in the UK realised that the US see a completely different homepage?  I just recently found this out (I know... slow of me, but there it is!).  I knew there were some differences, but I thought the overall content was about the same.  Not so...  So, in the interest of sharing, I'd like to point our US users who might not be looking at the UK homepage to check it out.  There are some interesting book reviews out there that are not specific to the UK that the US side of the pond might find interesting.

So... if you've looked around at both sites, which one has something specific that you find interesting or useful that is not on the other homepage?  If you haven't looked around, take some time, browse around, and then pop back in here with your comments and suggestions.  I think the book reviews should be on both homepages, but that's just my personal opinion.  Now you get to give me yours.

(disclaimor:  This is not to say that DD is going to take any of this into consideration or make specific adjustments due to this discussion... it is strictly an avenue to share information between us, the users, on what we find useful on which homepage in case others are like me and not aware of what might be offered on the other site.)

They are different, there are some cross over articles.  The UK has much more local and UK national news piece.  If anyone in the US has news or can send a link saying "check this out" please let me know.   With the book reviews, I agree.  I will see what we can do.

Susan... this was not meant as a critisism of the sites!!!!  I was hoping to start some discussions where we pointed out useful information from both home pages... perhaps letting others know of useful items available on the site.  I can completely understand the reasoning for the two sites, as they each have information specific to that side of the pond... but there may still be items that cross the pond (either direction) that other users may not be aware of simply because it is on one homepage or the other.

I perhaps mis-wrote my post a bit.... what I'm asking is... what do you find useful and interesting off your homepage?  Which one do you visit, and for what reasons?  Perhaps what you find useful and interesting would appeal to someone who hasn't noticed it yet, possibly because it is not offered on both homepages.  Perhaps UK news is interesting to someone in the US, for whatever reason (family, used to live there, may be traveling there, etc), and they are going elsewhere to get that but now might be able to just visit the UK homepage.  Still doesn't mean that it should be on the US homepage, but it is something that appeals to a certain person who may not have known about it previously.

I'm just trying to start a conversation!  Smiley

Didn't take that wrong. I think the US has stuff some UK viewers would enjoy as well as the UK has stuff the US viewers would enjoy, but I am always always after people who want to contribute :-).
