Christmas came a few weeks early this year for Dole (foods) employees, each of whom received a $1,000 bonus check from Dole's parent company, Hormel. That's right, Hormel, the company that makes Spam. You see, this was a very good year for Spam--what with people stockpiling for Y2K. So they decided to spread the wealth, along with a little mustard. Yum! Don't you wish you worked for Dole?

SPAM??? aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!
My mom made EVERYTHING with Spam when I was a kid....some really *nasty* pasta dish...with spam, cubes of cheese, pasta and a few other things.....
I vowed I would NEVER serve Spam to my kids....and I haven't; nor have I eaten it since then! My son asked me about it once when we passed it in the grocery store...I just put up the big *X* with my fingers....he just doesn't get it....I told him when he was 18, he could buy it for himself, but I wasn't going to do it! He's 18 and I haven't seen any Spam cans around the house....yet!

I'm 23, and I've never had SPAM. My mother apparantly has bad memories of it or something, b/c she never served it to us. Anyway, getting to the funny story:
A former pastor at my parent's church was having a birthday. They invited us over to help celebrate. She cooked some cheesy/potatoey dish, pretty good all-in-all. (No, it didn't have SPAM in it.) Anyways, as he was opening presents, one of the gifts was a SPAM t-shirt. Sis and I were like "HUH?" having never seen/eaten the stuff before. His wife procedes to tell us that SPAM is his favorite food, hence the t-shirt, and had he asked for it as his birthday dinner, she would have fixed it. Oh well, nobody's perfect . . .

tic--I can sympathize; when I was growing up we somtimes even had a Spam "ham" for Christmas dinner. Is that pathetic or what!!
Now of course we never eat Spam at home but it is one of our favourite "gags"! (My computer sings, "The Spam Song" everytime I get email!)
Spam with eggs,
Spam and Spam,
Spam, Spam, and Spam
Spam with toast and Spam,
I do not like green eggs and Spam,
Sam I Yam!

Yes, the beloved Monty Python Spam skit...ranks right up there with "The Lumberjack Song"
I remember a time in my family history, when we didn't have a lot of money, Spam was purchased as a "budget strecher"! Fried for breakfast, it's not horrible, but Spam Salad....gross! There's a story about a family outing at an amusment park, a picnic lunch, Span Salad, my mother, and the tilt-a-whirl...and I'll just let you guys figure out the rest! Needless to say, I'm not a Spam Fan!
