Anyone using a Color Laser printer? If so, what brand, do you like it, etc.? We print alot of photos (not on photo quality paper, photos are just for our files) and are currently using several HP inkjets and would like to upgrade to a color laser that could be networked. We're looking at a HP 4600 or 5500. Any input you have would be appreciated!

We use a HP 4600 and I prefer it very much to the old Deskjet we had. It is faster and everything seens clearer than with our old deskjet. It takes quite a lot of space though. Printing quality is good but you have to get used to it that the colours seem darker on overhead presentations.

We use an HP LaserJet 8100. It's networked, and it's easy to send to. Prints fairly quickly, but has a few incompatibilities with our network settings. Easily worked around though. We just received a directive from the top of the organization that everyone should phase out the use of ink jets, as they are more expensive per page than the laser jets, even though the cost of the color laser cartridges are WAY more expensive.

We are just got an HP Colorjet 5500 dtn about the first of December --- it is WONDERFUL! Networked with all the computers in the office - no problems at all.
I had to run 25 copies of a 66 slide PowerPoint presentation -- it took only 5 minutes per copy, never jammed, never game me any trouble at all. It's much faster than the laserjet at my desk.
Toner cartridges run $205 for black and $280 each for the 3 colors - yield is around 12,000 copies. The fuser is $255 and is supposed to last through 10 black toner cartridges. I've ordered everything so they're on hand, but I haven't yet needed to change out the ones that came with the machine. They did caution that the ones shipped with the machine generally yield fewer copies than new ones.
I have Hammermill 28# (HPG 102467) paper for color printers loaded in my machine and it produces beautiful copies. Nice slick paper; very impressive for presentations.
Good luck in your choice.
