Tipping

I'm having some food delivered from a deli and I wondered what was appropriate for tipping?  My bill is quite large and we've done a fair amount of business with them since we've moved into our new location.  It's not a catering service, just a deli where they have a guy in a van making deliveries on their behalf.  I was thinking if the bill is close to 200.00 I was planning on giving a 15.00 tip.  Does this seem reasonable to a delivery person?

Can you bump it to $20, which would be 10%?  It just seems like less than 10% could seem a little---well---"less than" if you know what I mean, especially since you have a long standing relationship with this company.

I usually tip 10% for deliveries.  If it's pouring down rain or bad winter weather, I tip a little more.

Hubby and I were debating between 15 & 20 last night and he said post it here to get a feel for what is usually done.  I will probably boost it up to 20.00 especially since it is a company we do alot of business with when we have visitors in town.  They have always worked out very well for us.

Well, it should be between 10 and 15%, but do take in to account if they charge a delivery fee.  Most of the time, that fee is actually given to the driver as part of their pay.  Me?  Well I'm notorious for tipping big.  I've put my dues in the restraunt business, and now I tip big to make up for all the jerks who leave 2%.  Personally I tip between 20 and 50%.

I have also worked many years in the restaurant business and have even gone back to it on part-time basis occasionally when I needed a boost in the income.

At my previous position, we had our favorite restaurant deliver (catering not their main end business) deli trays and I always tipped at least 15%.  Even now, with the occasional pizza delivery to the office, I'll tip 15%.  I suppose it's because I've 'been there, done that' sort of thing.

Our bill came to 200.55 and I gave a 20.00 tip.  Those guys do awesome work!  Went very well.

The standard now-a-days is 15 - 20%.  I too used to be a waitress, and tips are a major part of their income.
