I work in a unit with 21 women, and 2 men...one of whom is the manager.  I am the assistant to the manager, and as such, work almost exclusively with him most hours of the day.  There are two or three female staff members who obviously are smitten with him, and are apparently envious of the time I spend working with him.  Invariably I will get either "dagger" looks, or be the recipient of verbal wisecracks about the height of my heels, or how my suit fits.
My question to the group is, how would you handle this...just "let it go," or mention something to the women who are a bit green with envy?  Plus, it seems the women staff members all tend to compete for his attention....(yes, I think he secretly enjoys the attention, but is always very professional.)
Any comments would be appreciated.  Thanks!

In a word they need to grow up!!  Ignore them - you are hired to do a job - if they cannot handle your time spent with him, then they need to re-assess why they are there.

Exactly.  Any reaction on your part will doubtless be construed as indication that there is Something Going On.  So ignore them.

There is also a very good reason why YOU work exclusively for him and not them - you are a professional and as such - he does recognise this.  As mentioned above - ignore them - don't sink to their level

I'm inclined to agree with the rest.  Any response would merely "fuel the fire".

They would love it if you reacted to them. Don't give them the satisfaction. When they are long gone, you will still be there.

Thanks. I've missed all of you. Glad to see so many of the old-timers are still here.

Don'tcha just love those trips down Memory Lane back to Jr. High School?  It simply boggles my mind the people in this day and age act like this....

Count me in with the others -- take the high road and you stay out of the mud.

Thank you for all the responses...yes, I agree, and pretty much figured that it is "common sense" to ignore the individuals and not sink to their level, but it's always validating to hear it from others.  As you probably figured, this is my first post since I'm new to Deskdemon, and I think it's fantastic!  What a wonderful way to gain insight from others in similar positions who can really identify with you.
I'm looking forward to getting to know other members.   :-)

Jumping in late, but at least let me send you a warm welcome to DD.  I'm glad to see your first post was so empowering to you.  Please don't let it be your last.

Welcome to the "family"!
