Just received a lovely gift of 2 bottles of wine from my supervisor in recognition for my hard work and support to her.  Makes you feel proud to be appreciated .

Gee - that is so nice!  I get the occasional mumbled thank you as they're disappearing out the door (generally when I've spent a good couple of hours arranging the travel that they're out the door for!)!

Congrats! That is so nice.
I was just thinking today how much of a difference appreciation makes at work. I haven't been here long enough to merit a bottle of wine, but my coworkers have expressed appreciation for what I do, told me I'm doing a good job and helping them a lot. That makes even the most tedious task seem so much more fulfilling and motivating! So I say take time to express a little appreciation every day. It really makes a difference.

Congratulations to you Gee. (Clinking my wine glass against yours).  It's so nice to know that you are being appreciated the way you deserve.  Here's to you!

In my company, admins are pretty much underappreciated.  We are not really considered "part" of the department - just someone who does what they are told to do (at least on my worst days that's how I feel).  Just yesterday an incident happened that most of you would think of as nothing, but to me it was miraculous.  One of the junior bossies in one of the departments I support is leaving.  His bossie got a card for him and they are giving the departing boss a small gift.  I was not asked to contribute toward the gift, but he did bring the card to me and asked if I wanted to sign it.  I was taken aback because that's never happened before, but gladly signed the card and felt great.  Then, I get an e-mail - they're having a dinner for the departing bossie tonight and I was invited!!!  Couldn't believe my eyes - had to read the thing 3 times.  I responded to bossie that I was unable to attend but I took the time to express my appreciation that he actually included me in the card and the dinner invitation.  I've worked for this dept for 23 years and have never once been included in anything.  Most of the time they don't even tell me when new junior bosses are coming or going.  I only find out after there's a new face and I inquire about it or I ask where's so-and-so and find out that he left 3 months ago!  When I explained to this bossie (who only took over running the dept about 2-3 years ago, so he's still whipping things into shape), he was appalled that I had never been included in the past and assured me that I'm a valuable member of the dept.  As I said, most of you will probably say "so what", but when you are totally excluded from everything, any little thing they do is a wonder!!!!

Congratulations Spitfire!  I don't think that it's "nothing".  It's appalling that after 23 years you have never been included. That is just plain shameful. It looks like with new bossie things are looking up for you.  You are well overdue for the recognition you deserve.  (Opening a virtual bottle of E-wine and pouring a glass for Spitfire and all who want to join us! )  Here's to you Spitfire!!
