There is a poll on the US Home page that asks, "Do you feel your job title accurately reflects your position?"  so far the no's are winning so I would love to hear what you everyone on the message board thinks.   Yes?  No?  What should your title be?

My job title is Project Administrator although I am PA to our Director.  My role changed about 3-4 months after I started but the job title did not.  While I do provide a PA role for my boss and his management team, there are a lot of admin tasks that I do which take up quite a lot of my time but do not require supervision or constant management from my boss.  In other words it is just a given that I carry out those tasks without question ... much like the tooth fairy if you like.

No, I really don't feel that I do what is expected of the Title that the office has given me (or the role I fulfill, supposedly) but I do feel that the overlying HR title assigned to my position is accurate.  My HR title is Program Analyst, and though it is not really descriptive, the information provided behind it seems to fit what I do... A lot of administrative work, a lot of analysing of information and data on behalf of the facility, and a lot of writing of reports, making recommendations for changes, etc.  Quite a flexible job, normally.  But when you look at what they're expecting of me, it's not as flexible, a lot more cut-and-dried and a lot of it specialised out of my skill set -- and they knew this when they wrote me into this position.  Is there any wonder why I'm trying to get out?

I rather think that my job title does reflect what I do.

My job title is "Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive", and that's what I do  (with the help of my splendid assistant).  More specifically, my role is to manage the office of the Chief Executive and make sure that everything is done in a timely fashion.  Bossie's workload is quite considerable, so I have sole responsibility for five major areas of that workload, much of it concerning legal matters.

I am aware, however, that job titles are quite flexible.  My very first "admin support" job bore the title "Personal Assistant", which in that particular company meant "junior secretary".  I check out job advertisements from time to time and have a quiet chuckle when I see "Executive Assistant" posts advertised where the salary is between half to two-thirds that of mine and the level of responsibilities commensurate with the lower-level of salary.

My daughter is into watching the old "Roseanne" TV shows again....(Rosanne Barr)  remember in her comedy act she changed "housewife" into "Domestic Goddess"???

So, I'm thinking of changing my title to "Office Goddess".....that should pretty much cover everything, don't you think?

I think I'll go type up a little sign for my door right now......

Happy Friday everyone!   :-)

My title of Sales Coordinator truly covers a wide variety of tasks, all of which help keep the Sales Group organized.  I can't think of a better way to describe all that I do.  There are also varying levels, and because I've been on the job for 5 years, I'm now considered Level II.  Senior Sales Coordinator is the next level for which I'm aiming, but others have been here longer, so they will attain that before me.

I like the title Office Goddess, very nice!

My boss's big saying is, "It's about your contribution, not your title."  For me, the title I use is 'Executive Assistant to [insert boss's name]', works for me.
