We have all seen the ads or signs that are either spelled wrong or a bit out of context. Do you have any stories of the typo that got by and got a laugh?

My former boss decided to type a rough draft of a sales proposal. I was proofreading it and instead of typing "pumice scrubber", he typed "pubic scrubber." WhiteSatin

Lets just say I did a really bad typo at my last job before it got sent out thank goodness! I spelled warehouse wrong! I'll let you figure out what I typed instead. We girls got a good laugh over that one. All I could do was blush Diamondlady Peer Moderator

This happened many, many years ago, but I have never forgotten it. Thankfully, I didn't do it! A company-wide memo went out. In the memo names of several bosses were listed. One of them was supposed to be Whitman, only the secretary who typed it used an "S" instead of the "W" . Boy oh boy, did we have a good laugh over that one! The poor girl who typed it was so mortified, she sent out a public apology.

One of my co-workers composed an email message to her boss letting him know that she had taken a 1/2 sick day the day before. In the subject line she typed a "d" instead of an "s" on sick . She didn't even know she did it until one of the girls she copied on the email called her up and said "You only wanted 1/2"........ it was really funny and she was so embarrassed. Carol

At my last job, we ran a helpline for disabled people. Another organization decided to put an article about it in their newsletter, but didn't let us check it before it went out. They had transposed the last 2 digits of the phone number, so instead of callers reaching our helpline, they got a very sexy voice saying something along the lines of "Are you looking for a good time?" Needless to say, my boss wasn't very happy with the other organization!

I work in a manfacturing facilities with 3 shifts. Several people including myself have left the "f" out of shift. I put the word in my dictionary so it would flag me if I had a typo. However, during a review of a draft business plan presentation with the entire staff, the factory manager was reading outloud part of his presentation and noted that he was "shifting the priorities" instead of "shi*&*&ing" the priorities. I was very, very embarrassed.

There was the day my old bossie sent out an email to the department telling us we'd have a photo taken the next day, so to be sure we all wore our company shirts. Only--of course--he left the R out of "shirts."
At least that one wasn't mine...

I used to be PA to MD of an in-house management consultancy group (he later decided to stick to his legal side only so I got demoted at the same time, sigh!!), but have been wondering whether my completely unintentional typo within a particular document to the board of governors had any influence - instead of putting CAPRO I put the R before the A (and no I did not think that of the group until after I stopped working for it!). Talk about red faced as neither MD nor I spotted it before the meeting!

I wish I could remember what the name was... I sent something to an MD and, thankfully, copied his Assistant. Realized one click too late that I had hit "replace" instead of "ignore" when the spell check suggested an alternate spelling to his name. He had a foreign name and it turned into something very negative. I called his AA immediately, who I had never met, and she told him what happened. She told me not to worry, and that he had a sense of humor anyway. I also sent an apology via email to him immediately after I got off the phone with her. I can't believe I don't remember who it was... I thought I'd never forget as embarrassed as I was that day!! DonnaP99

I know this is a bit late in the day to answer this - but I thought I would share with you a genuine mistake I made when I used to work for an Iron Foundry... its a bit rude but worth sharing.
I used to work for the Buyer of foundry materials and one of the materials used to line the furnace was called DURAX and we ordered it by the tonne... Yes you guessed it... Yvonne typed an ordered for 1 tonne of DUREX (not sure if its the same name in US) - well everybody thought this was so funny, the buyer photocopied it and stuck it up all over the foundry with a note on it saying "Look what is Yvonne is thinking about" - even the Director had one pinned up in his office - it took me a long time to live it down.

Durex is a very large manufacturer of comdoms So as you can see I would have needed a very large stock room for 1 tonne of them.
