i don't dress for work, but if i go out to a halloween party i will. the only thing i do at work for halloween is put some candy on my desk. you would be amazed at who will stop at your desk and chat if there is candy around!

No, unless we were to have an office party where it was allowed. We've done that before, especially if it falls on a Friday. Otherwise, no we don't dress up. At home, No, I don't dress for Halloween. I used to live in the Suburbs where we got quite a few trick or treators, but I live out on a road where there are only three houses and corn fields on the other side, so you can imagine, no trick or treators. Not to say, I don't have the house decorated this year. I had three giant pumpkins that I have carved and lit out front. It's been lots of fun growing pumpkins, especially giant sized. I don't plan to dress up at my current job. However, at my last job, halloween was a big deal at the company. The employees would bring in their kids to trick or treat in all the departments. Their in-house photo lab would set up a great portrait site and take pictures of the kids in their costumes. It was a lot of fun, and some of us would indeed dress up. obviously it wasn't an overly productive work day, but it was so much fun seeing the kids year after year, we didn't mind.

I worked at a costume shop for 4 years, kinda burnt me out on Halloween. I don't dress for Halloween, but one of the girls in the office is going to bring in her 5-month-old baby tomorrow so we can see him all dressed up.

Well, today I am wearing ........a SUIT! (pause for gasps of astonishment, shock, horror, whatever). But wait, it gets worse - it's a SKIRT suit! (If you knew me, and how I normally dress....this is dressing up  ) Under normal circumstances - quite often jeans, but always trousers. I literally can't remember the last time I wore a skirt. I'm probably going to spend most of the day saying "no I don't have an interview", "no I'm not going anywhere special" etc etc A. |

I worked at a bio tech company for many years and some people dressed up, some didn't. It was up to the individual. There were cubicle decorating contests. Thinking aback it was very fun. I never dressed up, maybe a funny headband that was the extent of my dressing up. I did have a very cool cubicle, I had this voice activated ghost hanging from the ceiling. The guy in the cubicle next to me had this thing that would play the Monster Mash. Between the two voice activate gadgets and some decorations it made for a festive time. I have great memories. I am not sure if they do anything like that any more.

We have one person dressing up today in our office. Brave sole! He's got a scary painted mask on his face and he's wearing a Buffalo Bills shirt. In this neck of the woods, we have die hard Bills fans, and well they aren't doing so well this year, so it's scary to say the least! LOL! But for him, I've been teasing him all day saying his look is much improved, and that he now knows what it is to dress in makeup every day and the effort it takes, LOL! He's fun to pick on and takes it well, and dishes it back to you. Makes for a fun day instead of just work. Granted we do lots of work it gets crazy busy, but we still have fun. I was out with a sick baby, so didn't get to, but normally I do. And I did for taking them out last night. My outfit that I normally wear is not too bad for any office, so I don't feel bad doing this. It's a medieval overskirt - think long, sleeveless dress, which hooks just above the waist- high waist, and is otherwise open. This is in a rich wine crushed velvet, with gold embroidery edging, making it look very rich. Then I put a nice peasant blouse under it and either a black skirt (at least knee length, but prefer ankle length) or black slacks. Last night I wore slacks. Then I can add the simple braided "head dress", which is just a braid that sits on top of my hair, ringing my head, with a slip of lace draping down the back a little. I can wear this, slip off the overskirt (and headress if I have it on) and look "normal" without any issue. I have yet to have anyone complain in any of my previous positions over this attire, even when working with the public. And in this position, I don't have contact with the public, so that isn't even an issue.
