Are you an early, punctual or habitually late type person?    Some times we want to be an early type person, but end up always late.  Some people don't care.  What are you?

My answer, I am an early person.   I hate being late.  Even punctual makes me feel late.

I'd love to be early or on time but I'm habitually late (except for work, strangely enough).  But I'm consistently 15 minutes late, so my friends all build that into the equation when they arrange to meet me.

I'm with Susan and Gee ... would far rather be early than on time.  I also hate being kept waiting, esp. if I'm hanging around for someone / some thing - doesn't matter if it's a work or a social thing.

I have to say, being punctual or early is just good manners, in my book.

My preference would be early.  Now that I have other little ones to get ready before leaving the house, I'm more punctual.  But it does bother me to no longer be the early person.

I'm what you'd call 'chronically early'.

True story: I had an interview scheduled for 9am, it had been arranged by my mentor so she was just as anxious as I was about it (this was several years ago).  She called me at 8:15am in a panic wondering why I wasn't there yet, I told her it's still 45 minutes away!  She said, "But I know you, you're always early. Why aren't you here yet?" I had to confess that I was at the McDonald's down the street having some OJ, I'd gotten there at 8am but didn't want to show up an hour early. Smiley

It depends.

In general, I am habitually ten minutes late to work. I also leave ten minutes late at the end of the day, so that all evens out. Most places that I have worked, it hasn't mattered. I am not usually the one who opens the switchboard. Where it has mattered, there have usually been other issues (micromanagement related), so I rarely stayed at those places due to other issues.

On the other hand I am almost never late to meetings.

For classes I am teaching, I am always early 15-30 minutes minimum, often more.

For social engagements, I am often 5-10 minutes late. My friends are used to it.

I am just always trying to get "one more thing" done.

I've gotten better and my husband said he would fire me if I worked for him.  It doesn't matter what time I get up - I will be  a few minutes late to work.  Some days it's traffic most days it just I'm running late.  I also even out the time at lunch or working late and my bosses don't have a problem with it most days.  If we have office visitors I make a point of being early, but we don't often have early morning visitors.
And as for the rest of the day - here in Atlanta you can have the best intentions for being on time, but if you have to take 285 (the belt around the city) your odds of being on time are 50/50 at best less if one drop of water hits the highway!

I am an early bird as is  my boss.  Being late just starts the day off wrong.

I'm like Suis.  My intentions are to be early, but I'm late at least 3x per week.  It's not that I'm not up in time, just can't seem to get out of the house on time.

I tend to be punctual and sometimes early. I do not like to be late, and I like to leave extra time to allow for traffic, etc. (however, if I'm bringing my hubby, all bets are off--he's always having to do "one more thing" before we leave the house!)
