This might not appeal to the cat lovers amongst us but if you are a dog lover it might!

In my career to date, I have held a wide selection of secretarial and administrative roles with several different companies.  Some of the people I have supported have had characteristics of particular breeds of dog:

One young manager was like a Great Dane puppy – very eager to please to the extent that he would (not literally of course) rush up to me, place his front paws on my shoulders and lick my nose {translated: all over you, buying gifts and taking you into his confidence all the time but hadn’t yet learnt all the appropriate behaviours; successfully trained and released into the care of a permanent loving home!}

I currently look after two pooches – one is a wily old border collie; he snoozes in the sun for too long letting the flock go their own way and then he suddenly jumps up and rounds them up nipping at their heels and constraining their creativity {translated – too engrossed in his own stuff then micro managing and you are never sure which it will be; set in his ways and very difficult to retrain} : whereas the latest addition to our pack is a very keen, partly trained Labrador; he sits quietly for a few moments, concentrating on his work and then suddenly jumps up because he has seen a pheasant to retrieve {translated – very difficult to keep focused and when applying for funding wants twice as much as the money could buy and then can’t decide which is the priority.  I have high hopes of training this one to a high standard because he is not a puppy and is basically obedient, just needs to adapt to our ways}

I and the technical colleague I sit next to have quite a lot of fun over this - so I was sitting here in my dog training school and wondering – how do you think of your boss and if (s)he is a dog what breed and why?

Look forward to seeing what sort of a pack we have all accumulated

Cathy

My own is a puppy but mad.  You may not be sure of what will prompt him to bark or even attack you at any moment ( very hard to please and see things negatively)

Hard to say.  Very smart breed.  Well trained, never bites.  Good demeanor, always appreciative.  Golden retreiver, Lab maybe?  Now there are a few pit bulls in the office too.  Fortunately, I don't support them.  Mine is a keeper.  Definitely a pack leader.

Hmmm not sure on the breed, he's quite obedient, approachable but he's never here, he'd prefer to be roaming around and comes back for food and water (translates - likes to be out visiting people and returns once in a while for post, catch up etc).
