Greeting people as they arrive to a meeting

Just curious, and yes for those of you who have read my previous posts im sorry but I know Im overposting, its quiet in here and Im leaving my crap job soon to get a real PA job so have a million questions in my head!! And also Ive only just found this fabulous site : )
My questions is when you are attending a meeting that you will be minuting, arranging the refreshments for, how do you greet people arriving. Do you just sit yourself down and hand round your attendance sheets or do you stand at the door and take everyones names. What works best for you? Also if your coffee is in the middle of the table, do you let them help yourself or do you pour it for them?
Keep on truckin...

Depends if I am invited to the meeting to take minutes or not.
I would meet and greet visitors at reception and escort them to the meeting room where copies of previous minutes and/or agendas would be available. If I ordered tea and coffee before the meeting started then I would ask them to help themselves.
If I know the attendees I just tick them off my sheet as being present. If I don't know them I would ask and/or introduce myself when I first meet them at reception.

Our refreshments are always outside meetings rooms so people help themselves. Water is on the table and so ditto. Most of our meetings include lunch and that is available in a separate room.
Attendance sheets have to be signed in my company and these are circulated during the meeting or available just outside the meeting room.
Meeting and greeting: only if I have to. However, I always greet/talk to people during breaks and before the meeting.

Our refreshments are set up on the side of the room, they are welcome to help themselves but I would never pour coffee for someone.
I generally do meet/greet (by choice, I enjoy it), if I don't know the person then I'll introduce myself. The only time I don't meet/greet is when boss hands me last minute to-do items just before the meeting and I'm running to get those done.
