Today I was looking over my goals for this year and feel I am meeting them, but with the company so tight budgeted to get a raise I will need to do my job beyond expectation but feel I need some thing in addition to that.  I need some achievements that are beyond my normal duties.   I feel I have a normal job, calendaring, planning meetings and travel arrangements, some weekly/monthly excel reports, pass out pay stubs, supplies, presentations and projects.   Does anyone have any suggestions how to show my manager.. above and beyond my job functions?

In a previous role I was the one everyone came to for help on MS Office.

This included formulas in Excel, formatting spreadsheets, tables in Word, mailmerges, PowerPoint presentations....anything that my co-workers had trouble with.  So I created online help files and added to these regularly.

If this is not your thing, you might want to investigate other ways of improving processes and procedures which is one of the things that challenges me the most in my job.

Have you investigated what the normal everyday functions and expectations are of whatever role is, say, one or two levels above yours (if you have a grading system of any kind)?  Something from those lists might be feasible as a starting point!

Just my initial thoughts, though!

I would look at your manager's goals.  I would also find out if there are any committees you can join, for example does your company have a charity fund.  See if you can volunteer for that committee.  The contacts you make from that committee may help you to get the above and beyond.  Are there other admins in your company, volunteer to teach lunch time learning, or start an admin pool for cross training (companies love cross training!)  On that note find a way to cross train for another position.

That reminds me, does your ocmpany have anyone fool, sorry admirable, enough to take on Corporate Social Responsibility - that was a big buzz word a few years ago and will also give you kudos both inside and outside of the firm.
