What type of cell phone do you use, and do you use any applications on it?

I will post my answer on a separate post!  I have my iphone and love my applications (thus where the topic came from.  I woke up and all my applications besides the basic ones were gone.  After  a quick resync, they are back)  I was wondering who uses the add ons and which ones they like.   I love my itunes, and I used the international clock all the time.  I have a IM+ which keeps me in contact with everyone all the time.  iDictaphone is a nice little program to record comments for later.   I have this google application that all I have to do is speak what I want into the phone.  It works about 1/2 the time!    Twitterific is fun, I have a translator program, but need to visit a country to really use that one.   Where to eat is pretty cool, I have found a few new places to have dinner.   Fandango a must!   Oh my calendar program is great, it syncs up with my Outlook.   As for games, I love this little easy one called Catch a Mouse.   I am always looking at new, and wonder what other people use.

Goodness I feel so technologically insignificant!  I have a little pay-as-you-go phone, no bells or whistles.  I'm of the old "emergencies only" school of thought and half the time I forget to turn the silly thing on.  But I work in a neighborhood that would be considered "rough" and I don't want to be without it as I'm walking to the car.

My boss has called me on it maybe three times in the five years we've worked together, and all three were when we were coordinating an offsite event.  (One of the rare times I'm away from my cube.)  Mostly I use mine to let my hubby know that traffic is bad and I'll be late, or ask if I need to pick up anything at the store on the way home.

The one "thingy" I do use occasionally is the alarm clock function when I need to take a little power nap at lunch....

I have an iphone as well.  I do wish it had video.   The applications I like are:
1) Fandango
2) Facebook
3) Bejewelled and Tetris
4) ipod and You Tube

For work purposes:
1) Contacts
2) Calendar
3) Email on my phone
4) Notes, so I can jot a note down anywhere

I am a recent iPhone convert too - how did I live without this gorgeous shiny thing?  The only negative is the camera is just nowhere close to the one on my previous mobile.

I am only just starting to play with the Apps but so far I am loving iFreemind (mindmapping app which interfaces with the PC package I have); lastfm; and I have a couple of games too - sure that more will get added.

It is my personal mobile but I do use it for contact with work; it and my (work)laptop allow me to work flexibly and remotely from the office at times which I both enjoy and find invaluable.

I'm with Didface on this!  I have a very, very basic mobile phone, which I only use for emergencies or important calls when I am out and about.  My workplace doesn't have my number.  I reckon I am available enough, thank you, for my company to get in touch with me.  I carry pen and teeny-weeny notebook with me for making notes, along with my diary for appointments, and I am way too busy to need to access the internet out of work hours or the few times in the week when I need to access my home email.

Yes, and  I still write letters to people - with a fountain pen.

I don't have an iphone but do have a reasonably good camera phone.  It costs extra to surf so I tend not to use my mobile for that since I have internet access at home.

I use my mobile for -

Contacts
Calls
Texts
Making notes
Diary reminders and events
and it's also my alarm clock

I have a basic mobile phone.  In the week it is my emergency contact number for my two dear kids.  I do not broadcast the number at work.  Otherwise, I use the text facilities quite a lot - one of my best friends finds it easier to stay in touch with me this way.  BTW I still send letters written out by hand as well and I love receiving these by return.

I have an Iphone and I love it.  I couldn't live without it now.  I have downloaded a lot of apps but the ones I use most are facebook, mbox mail for my hotmail account, diggnation, twittefon, Wikipanion, flixter, Google earth, You Tube, calengoo.......  the list could go on and on. Its fantastic.  I do find the camera useful when I am out and about.  This is the best thing I have ever bought.

I'm laughing here....what on earth did we do without this technology years ago?

Gone are the days of phoning someone up and arranging to meet, then having to wait half an hour on them because the bus was late.  Now we can text or email from our phones to say we are running late, or have been held up.  In fact nowadays we get annoyed if someone doesn't reply to a text we sent 5 mins beforehand.

Contacts

Diary reminders and events

and very occasional alarm clock (came into its own in Tunisia last year when my radio-controlled travel clock reset to UK time overnight and I had an early call - thank god for the phone!)

and very occasional camera

What on earth did we do before all this?  Anybody remember those blissful days when, if you weren't near a phone, you weren't in touch?!  When the car or train or bus was a "safe haven"?

I'm still amazed at how often one sees people walking along either talking or texting - we never needed to be constantly talking or in touch before!!!  What on earth do we find to talk about all the darn' time!!

I'm old school as well: pay-as-you-go basic phone, it doesn't even text.  It has a camera but no way to send pictures.  It's for emergencies or if my childcare can't reach me any other way.  One a year or so I get the itch to get the latest and greatest, but the thought of moving from a $15 every 60 days payment to $100+ per month quickly douses it!

Thread drift ...

I think that all mobiles should come with a little phone-etiquette instruction, particularly since younger people seem to use them all the time.  A while ago I went to my assistant's office to speak with her about something.  Her phone rang and she answered it immediately - without even an "excuse while I take this call" [Rose glares and taps foot on floor].  I didn't bite her, but I don't think she will do that again in a hurry.

I have a sprint mogul, pretty nice phone overall. I am pleased with it. I haven't chosen to download a lot of apps with it.

It is windows pc mobile, so I have the software on it to download and sync with my Microsoft Office documents, which I absolutely love. I can also store and view PDF files on it, surf the internet (with a nice large screen), synchronize with my outlook for my calendar, contacts, task list, etc. It has a camera in it that does include video - I find myself capturing pictures periodically and I'm glad it has that feature (like at work a week ago when 200+ pelicans migrated through the area and landed on our pond for a few days). It's also GPS enabled.

I love being able to check movie times on the fly, look up a phone number, etc. I think I use the internet feature the most on this phone.

We've got one of those fairly expensive everything is included deals, but I deduct my phone off my taxes as a business expense, so it's no big deal to me.

Can I ask those of you who have Blackberry's or iphones, are these a requirement for work eg. supplied by your employer?

Some of you have mentioned that you "download and sync with Microsoft Office documents" and I wondered if this was a work requirement or just for personal use at home?
