Hi everyone.... It's been a while since I've been here. Just got too busy there for a while... Our office moved into nicer digs in January - I now have a corner office! by default, (it was the office that had the cabinetry for the printer and fax) but I'll take it! anyways, hopefully I can check in on a regular basis now. On the post... came across a website called www.neatreceipts.comThey call this machine a scanalizer - you scan your receipts and it exports them into Excel, Outlook, Quicken, Quickbooks, Money, and Word for you. Will also scan business cards. Gets your taxes organized better with copies of receipts accepted by the IRS. Creates expense reports. Scans documents. Has anyone ever used one of these? Does it work? I'm thinking this might just be perfect for hubby's business. thanks!

AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES
1. If you are choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat and presto, the blockage will almost instantly disappear.
2. Clumsy? Avoid cutting yourself while slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop away.
3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by simply using the sink.
4. For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer.
5. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.
6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough.
7. Have a bad toothache? Smash your thumb with a hammer and you will forget about the toothache.

ours dropped a bit over the weekend here in California also. So far, the "plus" octane hasn't dropped below $3.00/gallon yet. At least, that I've seen. (tongue-in-cheek) Oh well, I probably only would've saved $2.00 total on the fill-up. I usually fill up on payday so at least I know there's money to cover!! -kjorg

countrigal-
I wondered the exact same thing last night when I filled up!
"Wonder what it'll be this afternoon? Makes me wonder when I should fill up... Like, if I wait another day, will it be cheaper? Or will the price go up again? Should I wait a couple of days? Or should I fill up today, and then again tomorrow, if the price goes down, and again...and again.... "
Usually weekends are higher out here though. Our prices are still at $3.02-$3.11 for unleaded regular. $50 to fill up my car now! If I'm careful, it can last exactly a week. I remember only budgeting $100/month for gas - and I thought that was high.

Hey - we will probably be moving our office within the next month. Anyone out there have a nice list of things to check and do??
Our building sold and the new owners have almost tripled our rent! Needless to say, we are looking at other offices. Any and all advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

Gas prices are $3.25/gallon here for premium. I usually buy the plus, which is usually $.10/gallon cheaper. Still makes it $45 to fill up my car. Unfortunately, I commute 25 miles one way to work. Have to get there somehow. Not sure if there's a bus line that connects the two cities. Will check into that. My husband drives all over the place for his job. self-employed. with a truck. I think it's $60-$70 to fill up his truck. It's definitely affecting us.
Frankly, I'd be surprised if we ever see anything below $2.50 again. Even before the hurricane crisis, they were talking about the production in Iraq, Saudi, etc .... being down and probably wouldn't reach their high production again. It's not a never ending supply. I wish there were more alternatives to choose from. We here in the U.S. are slow in accepting anything else.

officeguru- From what I've seen on the news, it doesn't look like your co-worker will be leaving for her cruise out of New Orleans next month...
My prayers are with everybody down there. Really makes you stop and think about what you would do if it happened to you. Other than earthquakes, I think my area is relatively safe from natural disasters, not exactly sure where the fault lines are though. No rivers or levies close by. I would like to become more self-sufficient though. Been checking out solar ovens lately. Would help if power or gas were lost. Anyone have one or used one before? There are plans on the internet to build them or you can spend up to $250 and buy one. Seems like a lot of money to me. Lehmans.com has 2 they sell, one cheap and one expensive. Interesting site to check out though.

Couldn't resist posting this....
A guy is sitting at a bar, just looking at his drink. He sat like that for half-an-hour, never moving, just staring at the glass. Then, a big trouble-making truck driver steps next to him, takes the drink from the guy, and gulps it down.
When the man just stares and starts crying, the truck driver says: "Hey, I was just joking. Here, I'll buy you another drink. I just can't stand to see a man crying."
"No, it's not that. This day is the worst of my life. First, I fell back to sleep after I shut my alarm off and got to my office very late. My boss was really angry and fired me. When I left the building to drive home, I discovered my new car had been stolen. Then the police told me it's probably already chopped up and there's nothing they can do. So I get a cab to return home, and when get out, I remember I left my wallet and credit cards there but the cab driver just sped away before I could say anything. So I go in the house and find my wife in bed with the gardener. That's when I came to this bar. And I had just made up my mind to end my life when you show up and drink my poison..."
Have a good Friday everyone!

My industry tends to slow waaaayyy down in the summer, so I'm always looking for things to do. I started keeping a list of projects that my bosses expresed interest on. Take a question they ask and expand on it. How can you give them information above and beyond what they asked for. At one time, I created tables based on what we sold that year, when they had only asked me what they sold last year on suchandsuch product. About every two years, I update their phone lists / directions lists for them. Not very fun to do, but it does keep me busy. I also wrote my own manual and my own Outlook tasks to help with training and as a reference for when I'm not here. Any type of organization is good to do during the down time, as when we're busy, we're BUSY! Summer is also a good time for us to purge out the completed contracts.
Question for you... Is it not busy because of the time of year or will it continue like this?
Hope this helps..
