The Christmas party

You’ve never arranged the Christmas bash before - where do you start?

A good place to start is to find out who's paying (and if it's the company then what's the budget) and how many people are likely to attend (not how many work there, but whether partners etc. are invited). You might also want to find out who organised the previous year's event, where they went, and how popular it was.

I sent a short questionnaire to find out what people would be more likely to enjoy – but you can't please everyone! Usually a sit-down or buffet dinner and a disco is pretty standard and works well. Approach the local hotels to see what packages they are putting together. Will the staff have transport organised for them, will some want to stay over, etc....
